IdleWaters

One boat. One crew. Your entire server.

IdleWaters is a shared idle fishing game for Discord. There are no personal inventories to grind in isolation — your server crews a single boat, and every cast anyone makes pushes it deeper into the ocean together. One panel sits in your channel, always live, always current. Press Cast! and see what surfaces.

How it plays

An admin runs /setup and picks a channel. A persistent panel appears — that panel is the game. No commands to memorise, no walls of text.

  1. Cast the line. Every cast drags the boat a little deeper.
  2. Land something. Fish sell for coins. Junk gets salvaged into boat parts.
  3. Upgrade the boat. Better hulls, sonar, rods and reels reach deeper water.
  4. Deeper water pays better. Rarer species live further down. Repeat.

Two rules keep it social rather than solitary: a shared cooldown between casts, and a turn rule — whoever cast last waits for someone else to take a turn. Fishing alone still works (a 15-minute fallback frees you), but a crew that shows up together descends far faster.

Descend forever

Eleven handcrafted zones, each with its own species, colours and character:

The Shallows → Kelp Forest → Coral Reef → Open Ocean → The Twilight Zone → The Deep → Abyssal Trench → Hadal Depths → Sunken Ruins → The Maelstrom → Leviathan's Lair (20,000m)

And past the last of them, the ocean simply keeps going. Depth is infinite — procedural "Beyond the Map" tiers generate forever, so no crew ever hits a wall and finds the game over.

Every species your crew pulls up is recorded in the server's Fishdex, with credit to whoever discovered it first.

World events — everyone, everywhere, at once

This is the part that makes IdleWaters feel alive. A global scheduler runs nine weather and sea events, and they are the same for every server running the bot at the same moment. When The Great Storm rolls in, it rolls in for everyone.

Six boons · Feeding Frenzy · Great Migration · Calm Seas · High Tide · Bioluminescent Bloom · Shipwreck Surfaced

Three risks · The Great Storm · Red Tide · Fog Bank

Boons send catch rates soaring, multiply payouts or force a richer catch table. Risks bite back — storms snap lines outright, red tides spoil the catch, fog blinds your sonar. Every panel across every server shows the same coloured banner while it lasts, so your crew always knows what the sea is doing.

Salvage rigs and automation

Reach The Deep at 1,200m and you can build a Salvage Rig — a second button on the panel, a second activity, and a second economy running alongside the rod.

Dropping the magnet dredges up junk, valuable coin scrap, and occasionally a Relic — a scarce third currency that funds a full electronics tech tree: magnet strength, winch motors, electromagnets, metal detectors, GPS arrays.

At the top of that tree sits the ROV Drone and Battery Bank — passive auto-salvage that quietly banks junk while nobody is playing, waiting for you on your next cast. This is where the idle in IdleWaters earns its name.

Level up your angler

The boat belongs to the crew. Your level belongs to you.

Every cast and every magnet drop earns personal XP. Levels grant skill points to spend on your own tree — Precision, Casting Arm, Patience, Fortune, Salvager — plus Ocean Mastery, an endless sink for anyone who never wants to stop progressing. Personal bonuses are deliberately modest against crew upgrades: they make you a better member of the crew, never a replacement for one.

Fully training the tree is a year-plus of steady play. IdleWaters is built as a long game, and it is paced like one.

Compete beyond your server

Three leaderboards run side by side: deepest boats across every server, top anglers globally, and your own server's crew standings — so there is always a rival within reach and a rival far above.
