Marginalia

A book tracker for Discord.

Marginalia keeps a record of what you read. Mark books as reading, finished, or to-be-read; rate them; share what you're reading with the people in your server. Lookups return cover, summary, your shelf state, and links to common retailers. Bring your existing library with you — imports work for Goodreads, StoryGraph, and Hardcover.

Designed to feel like Last.fm for books — passive logging, social by default, no separate app to open.

Commands

Command Description /m book Look up a book. /m me [@user] Your shelves, or someone else's. /m finished Log a finished book; rate optional. /m reading Mark as currently reading. /m tbr Add to to-be-read. /m rate Star rating + optional review. /m whoknows Who in this server has read it. /m crowns Server leaderboard. /m taste @user Compare reading taste. /m chart Cover-grid summary of your year. /m sync Goodreads or StoryGraph CSV. /m settings Privacy, retailer prefs, Hardcover sync.

Privacy

• Per-user visibility settings: hide your shelves, opt out of whoknows, hide your ratings.
• No MESSAGE_CONTENT or GUILD_MEMBERS intents — the bot only reads messages that mention it.
• Affiliate links (Bookshop, Amazon, Libro.fm) are flagged in the embed footer. Server admins can disable them entirely.
• No analytics SDKs, no tracking pixels.
